The James Brand The Barns = Excellent!
Excellent integral folding EDC knife!
Visually very clean lines. Ergonomics are excellent overall with not hot spots in the grip. Notable are the rounded frame back and excellent diamond grip pattern, and the pocket clip dissapears into the form of the knife. Check out the hidden pocket clip mounting screw! The lanyard holes are very discrete. The pocket clip has a very nicely done landing area with no grip pattern which is easy on your clothing and makes for a firm but easy catch and release. The blade is robust, a heavy use cutter made from Bohler M390 a personal and industry favorite. Check out the blades dual finish and spine details... beautiful!
Don't let the price scare you this is a Reate made knife with many great details such as the subtle but very cool use of enamel in the logo. The blade edge bevel is perfect on both sides... this knife is sharp! Gimping on the back of the blade is unique and very effective without thumb fatigue. The action out of the box is great, perfect detent and after break in will be fall shut... its almost there!
Dual thumb studs for ambidextrous thumb and finger deployment that feel great and make for easy comfortable and accurate opening. Very subtle badging/branding with hidden date code and serial number when blade is nested in closed position.
Two negatives... #6 torx hardware on show side pivot screw should be same as lock side and be a #8 torx. Also there is no detent ramp and TJB needs to add one, its that simple. Fix both those issues and you will have absolute perfection!
When they do I would be happy to purchase another!
As it stands this knife is a 9.8 out of 10... WELL DONE TJB!
I have many knives and this one is bound to be a favorite carry that will see lots of use.
Absolute Grail knife here!
