About Thiers Issard
Thiers-issard was founded by Pierre Thiers in 1884, its name stemming from his wife’s and his last name, to differentiate between other Thiers of the area. Pierre Thiers put so much of his heart into his business, rumor has it that he died at his work bench. The company passed down through successive generations until 1985, when the company transferred to Gilles Reynewaeter, a frenchman absolutely enamoured by straight razors who has written two books on the subject. The company now uses a proprietary Japanese steel blend mixed with 1800’s techniques to craft some of the best razors in the world.

I'm new to the straight razor world, but for the last month I've had the pleasure of shaving with the Thiers Issard Spartacus. At first the 7/8 blade was a bit intimidating, but I'm so glad I went it as it shaves so effortlessly now that I'm more comfortable putting such a large sharp blade to my throat. The red stamina wood scales look and feel fantastic. If you're looking to get into the straight razor game look no further, spend the little extra and treat yourself to something a lot extra!

Nathan loves the Thiers Issard Spartacus for it's heft, balance, and damn-good looks. Because they use Japanese Steel, Thiers Issard blades stay sharp longer than most others and are a sheer joy to hone. Occasionally Nathan will start his morning shave by proclaiming: "I am Spartacus!" Thiers Issard Spartacus: $325 normally, but $276.25 for all of March. Whatadeal.

This is my first real strait razor ,as I have only tried a shavette before. At first I found it large to maneuver but after a few shaves it felt easier to use. It is a very nice looking razor and a joy to use. Did I mention this is about as bad ass ass you can get ? I highly recommend it !

If your blade can't do this, it's time for a tuneup! Our shops teach Straight Razor Sharpening Classes and have all of the supplies you need to do it yourself.
If that's not your style, you can get it hand honed for $20, and half your money will go to charity.

Caring for your blade is vital to owning a straight razor, but it's not as difficult as you may think. Before every shave, strop it gently and consistently, allowing the spine to set the angle. With the right technique a good blade will stay sharp for months at a time!

This is the first razor I have purchased other than normal store-bought razors. While it takes some getting used to, it is comfortable to use and looks beautiful. Because it has wood scales I was able to choose from 3 different wood grains and colors. The staff at Kent of Inglewood were extremely helpful and friendly as they showed me the different styles and options of razors as well as all the accessories,soaps, etc. I would recommend them as well as the razor to anyone looking to dive into the wonderful world of straight razor shaving.
